In/Fertility Info
Posted: February 3, 2013
Fertility issues are becoming more and more common. There are numerous reasons for this- environmental issues, stress, couples marrying and starting a family later in life, focussing on career first, poor diet, exposure to radiation from microwaves and electronics, and the list goes on and on. Some couples chose to seek fertility treatment through the medical field (getting IUI's, IVF's, medications) or through alternative medicines (acupuncture, naturopath, osteopath, chiropractic). Other couples become foster parents or adoptive parents. Still other couples decide to remain child-less, or ultimately accept life without children to call their own.
It is often difficult to talk about this topic. However, it is important to know that if you want it, the help and support is there. You are not alone. My husband and I have been on this journey for almost three years, and I can honestly say that the more I talk about it, the more I realize how prevalent this issue is.
Another colleague, Joy, and I have started an in/fertility support group. We would like for it to be an ongoing group, and hoping for enough interest to continue it. The next one is Feb 20th from 6-8pm, and is at Leaside Therapy Centre, at 1395 Bayview Ave. Please contact me to register.
I have also posted some other in/fertility resources on my Resources page. Be sure to check it out!
Be Well,
Melissa
